Tuesday Tip

No, the above picture is not Czar. Although I do feel like this is his sister, they have a lot in common as far a shedding is concerned. I am still working on my "to do Spring Cleaning list" and like I mentioned earlier, having a injured and recovering dog inside during the Spring months has added to my daily chores. I never knew and animal could shed so much hair. lol I really not complaining, because I am so glad he is safe! Also glad I am home this week to take care of him. So with my moans and groans I will leave you with the helpful hint, well very helpful to me....
Thanks to Dog Chat Forum for the helpful hint.

Today's Tip:
How to remove pet hair from furniture
For removing pet hair from upholstery in your house and car an easy method is to use a rubber glove. Gloves with a raised grip work better. Put the glove on and run it under the tap to make it wet then shake off excess moisture. Run your fingers over the pet hair areas in short scraping strokes. You will find that the hair is easily removed and it is especially easy to get into nooks and crannies and areas down the back of your sofa.
You can also use a dampened sponge. Rub the sponge in a downward motion over your chairs, cushions and car upholstery.
Pet stores carry specially made tools for removing hair including rubber rakes, hair removal sponges and pet hair magnets. Pet hair rollers are another solution. They are a small hand held roller which come supplied with disposable perforated sheets of sticky paper. The idea is to roll the pet roller over the area of pet hair and the hair sticks to the sticky paper.
A similar method of removing dog and cat hair is to wrap packing or duct tape around your hand, sticky side facing out and pat this over the furniture or car seats.
Rub a clothes-dryer fabric-softener sheet over the pet hair. The softener in the sheet makes it easy to pick up the hair.
A lint brush, brushed one way only over fabrics is also useful for removing dog hair.

Update On Czar

It has been a busy week in the Boyd house! We had a Spring Church Retreat at Fall Creek Falls. We had a great time and it was a success as usual.
I am sorry I haven't update about Czar lately! He is home and recovering nicely. Dr. Linda Young decided to do surgery on Thursday! We visited him afterward and he was a little loopy to say the least. We let him stay with Dr. Linda until Saturday morning. I picked him up and he was so happy to see me. He is a little apprehensive about his surroundings and I know it will take time for him to heal completely. He had a severe concussion and the surgery to repair his jaw (hairline fracture) has left him a little less than himself. Everyday we see parts of his personality returning. When an animal takes a sever blow to the head it can do irreversible damage. Thank God, we don't think this is the case with Czar.
The only problem at this point is he is staying inside to recuperate, and you notice in the picture above he has thick hair!!! To say he is shedding is an understatement! lol So along with Spring cleaning is Czar hair removal....I am not complaining....we are so happy he is here recovering and I have this week to be with him. He goes back for check up on Friday....
Thank you for your sweet comments and concern for him!

Tuesday Tip

As you all know by now, I am on Spring Break, and I have a list of Spring Cleaning jobs to finish before I head back to work. With my list in hand, one of the top priorities is to clean our home office, and clean/wash all the windows. I decided I would share one of my homemade remedies for cleaning windows.

Tip: Solution to Clean Windows and Mirrors

I purchase empty spray container from Walmart to use for homemade cleaners. Fill the spray bottle with 3 tablespoons ammonia, one teaspoon of vinegar, and cold water add one drop of blue food coloring and no one knows the difference. Also pour rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle. This is good for bathroom mirrors and faucets because it is streak free and it kills germs.

Tip is courtesy of Barefoot Lass's household hints. I hope you all take a moment to enjoy the beauty of Spring. If you would like to share your spring cleaning tip please comment. I am off to clean........

P.S. Update on Czar!! I called Dr. Young's office this morning and they said he was doing extremely well considering his accident. He will stay with them until Thursday, and when he comes home he will have to be contained?? I don't know how he will like this? I am going out to visit him this afternoon, I will update....

Czar

What a way to begin my Spring Break! I wake up this morning and find out our sweet Czar was hit by a truck. The person who hit him was one of our neighbors and a wonderful man. It was not his fault, Czar stepped out in front of him? Ethan took him to the Vet and he is currently sedated for shock. They think he may only have a broken jaw bone? I know he has a concussion, and he was so scared! They plan to do Xray and check him out later this afternoon. They gave him a shot and they are waiting for him to come out of the shock before they begin treatment? He is such a good boy, and we love him! I really felt my mother instincts when he came up to me and layed his body in my lap for comfort! I guess it really doesn't matter as long as your a female they know you will take care of them!

I am out the door at this moment to pick up my car from the shop. That is another story in itself! lol I hope this week begins to pick up and go in totally different direction than this! I can not complain, all in all I am blessed beyond measure, our sweet Czar could not have survived. I count my blessings!!!!
Happy St. Patricks Day to you all.....

Tuesday Tip!!!

I have lots of people who mention that they enjoy visiting my blog! I think to myself "Wow", because when I began this several months ago, it never dawned on me the response I would receive. Usually followed close behind they enjoy reading is the question "How do you find the time". So today being my "Tip" day I thought I would share something I read this past Saturday. I hope it will answer those questions on having time for the things we love. You or most of you know I am a big fan of Flylady.com. It is a organization blog, actually it is a lady and several of her friends who help you set up routines to get your life organized. This could relate to home, what your having for dinner, or making time for yourself. I want to give credit to Flylady
for today's tip. Please check out her site if you haven't already.
Tip:
I came across this article today about the benefits of reading just 15minutes a day: Suppose you read about 250 words a minute and that you resolve to devote just 15 minutes a day. In one year (356 days) you would read for 5,475 minutes. Multiply that times 250 words per minute and you get 1,368,750 words per year. Now most books have between 300 and 400 words per page. So if we take 350 words per page and divide that into1,368,750 words per year we get 3,910 pages per year. This means that at 250 words a minute, fifteen minutes a day you could read about 20 average sized books a year! We can improve our minds and set another great example for our children, just by reading 15 minutes a day.
FlyLady here: Not only can you read for 15 minutes a day but you can write for 15 minutes a day. I believe all of us have a book waiting to come to life and we can write for 15 minutes each day. So you can write 200 words a day times 365 days. You have 73,000 words which makes a 200 page book. There is just something about writing every day. On the Internet it is called Blogging. I have been blogging before it was even a word. Journaling is another term for it. This is the best way to get your feeling out of you so you don't have to stew about them or document your happy feelings and God Breezes. Consistency is what makes these new habits blessings in our lives. You can do anything for 15 minutes.
So there you go, you have it in a nutshell.....so simple why didn't we think of that!!!! Have a blessed week and spend just 15 minutes of each day doing something you love. It will not only make a difference in your life, but just maybe for those who are watching your example.

Well actually it came on Saturday, that doesn't make too many people happy who work in Education! lol They want snow, only Sunday~Thursday!! lol We did have a lot of snow and before noon it had melted away. I don't think there were many problems in our hometown? So I guess any snow day with minor accidents and very few problems could be considered a Good Snow day!!! Stay warm and have a safe weekend...

Hump Day!!!

Hello everyone it's Wednesday or better known around our house as "Hump Day". Don't ya just love it, halfway thru the workweek, zoning in on the weekend. Another reason I love it is our mid~week bible study, and our Ladies Bible Class. It is always better after I take time for fellowship, study, and just connecting with my Christian sisters. Regardless of the day, or week I have had at this point it just all comes together.
I am so blessed to have such wonderful ladies in my bible class, they range in different age, but we all have one common goal. Help each other get to Heaven. I truly hope you have or have had a great "Hump Day" but most of all I hope you have wonderful people (women) in your life to lift you up! God bless and have a fabulous day/evening......

Tuesday Tip, Fresh Eggs!!!!!!!

Hello everyone! I hope your week is off to a good start! If you are like me just seeing those Easter Eggs really gets me in the mood for all things Easter! So I decided in honor of Easter my tip today is "Egg" related. We all want to make sure our eggs are fresh before we begin to boil, decorate, hide and then eat them......
Tip:
Test to see if an egg is fresh, immerse it in a pan of cool, salted water.
If it floats throw it away.
This tip is courtesy of Barefoot Lass' Hints please check out their site. Thank you and have a blessed day!!!!
